How Great Is Our God

Revelation 21:2-5
"And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.  He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.  He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."  And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

I have been reading in Revelation the past couple weeks, and it's a little difficult for me to know what to take away from it, but the Lord has used it to reveal His Glory to me, and it has been wonderful to be able to just ponder on that for awhile.  Thinking about how glorious, amazing, mighty, powerful and wonderful our God is.

It has been an ongoing struggle for me in my quiet times, reading and feeling like I'm not getting anything out of it.   Having a hard time trusting that the Lord will speak to me through his word when I'm not really knowing what to get out of it.  On sunday, Keith said, When God's word goes out, it NEVER returns to him void.  This means that when I read his word in the morning, even if I don't feel like I understand or necessarily know what to take away from it, God's word never returns to him void!
Praise the Lord that it is not our understanding and our works that bring us communion with him, it is because of the FINISHED work of the precious Lamb of God, that we stand righteous, blameless, and forgiven before our HOLY GOD!
That to say, I am so grateful for the word of God, and that He is allowing me to see and understand him in new ways, little by little, until the day he returns and we will be like him because we shall see him as he is!  Lord hasten the day of your return!

(sorry I kinda went a different direction than the verse I wanted to write about ... maybe I'll finish when I have more time :))

Hey Katie thanks for sharing what the Lord has been teaching you. Many of us at times feel like we not sure what we get out of reading. But what a great way to relect on the fact it isn't something we muster up - God's word will not return void.PTL
Thanks for sharing your heart! Love you Mom
